Lunar Plains (Planitia)

There is only one officially named plain on the Moon: Planitia Descensus, the Plain of Descent, named to commemorate the site of the first soft landing on the moon by the Soviet Luna 9 probe on 3rd February 1966. Click on its name to view the Moon centred there.
