I'm Back; More Soon

This evening I returned from the Fourmilab North Pole and Solar Eclipse expedition about which I wrote previously. All went well, and despite thin clouds in the sky and vibration transmitted through the deck of the icebreaker as it pushed at maximum hull velocity toward a clear patch of sky, I came away with not only a memorable visual impression of the eclipse but a few photos worth sharing.

As I write this post, I'm in the process of transferring the 34 Gb of photos archived on CompactFlash memory cards and a backup external USB hard drive onto the Fourmilab RAID array. When that's done, I'll commence assembling a photo gallery for the expedition, complete with the chatty captions you've come to expect from the 1999 and 2001 eclipses.

To tide you over, here are a few images from the trip. When I post the complete journal, these will be linked to the corresponding chapters of the chronicle.
