In this photo we're somewhat further from the centre of the village as depicted in the previous page, and looking a little to the left along the Rue des Hautes-Bornes which leads to La Place du Régent. The building in the left half of the picture has the current address Rue des Hautes-Bornes 2 and is catalogued as RACN 010-6456-00061.
The area where this building stands is documented as having been occupied in 1872 by two adjacent houses, so it must have been constructed after that date. Judging from the sign, this was a bakery when the “then” picture was taken, and it remains in commercial use today, with a Denner store having opened there in 2006. The long-established independent store in Lignières moved from this building to a new site near the church a few months before.
No information is available to date the “then” photo. The automobiles suggest it's probably from the 1920s or 1930s. From the clock tower, however, we know it was taken around 15:35, whatever the year may have been!
