Harvest Time

A moissonneuse-batteuse harvests wheat in a field above Lignières. In the distance, directly above the combine, is snow-capped Mont Blanc, at 4807 metres (or so—I'm not going to get into that debate!) the highest peak in Western Europe. The mountains aren't all that visible through the haze; for more detail, see the Lignières and the Alps panorama from February 2007.

The picture was taken from around here on the old Roman road, looking due South.
